Week 5: Twitter Basics (Sep 26)

Twitter Basics: This week, we explored microblogging on Twitter and Tumblr, tested out Tumblr group blog posting by email and also launched Twitter accounts. We crosslinked our blogs with our Twitter, and experimented with tweeting, retweeting, direct replies, searching & following, Twitter chats, and making Twitter lists. (More on Twitter next week!)

DUE Mon, Oct 1: Launch Twitter Account (email instructor the link) and tweet five times to activate the account
DUE Mon, Oct 1: Crosslink Twitter & blog
DUE Mon, Oct 1: Promote Blog Post #1 on Twitter
DUE Mon, Oct 8: follow five other relevant Twitter users
DUE Mon, Oct 8 create a public Twitter list of at least five relevant Twitter users
DUE Mon, Oct 8: tweet 5 more times (minimum 10 total by this date); tweet your Delicious link

Ideas for your five Tweets this week and next week:

Tweet your blog link to the class hashtag #fsuslis5916
Tweet the link to your public list of Twiitter users
Tweet some “weekday” posts – Friday (#FF, #FollowFriday), Monday (#MM, #MusicMonday), Wednesday (#WW #WordlessWednesday)
Do Retweets of other people’s interesting tweets that might attract the kind of audience you want following you and your blog
Find a hashtag that a large number of people are using which is relevant to your blog topic and tweet the link to your first blog post with that hashtag (e.g., a Trending Topic on the front page of Twitter, a group tag, or subject tag that many people use.)
